to Harborcrest Gardens
This catalogue will be updated VERY SOON with many new plants for 2001! We plan on adding a photo page and a growing tips page as well! Keep checking! Also, please feel free to click on the "Chat" link to contact us directly. If we're online, we're happy to talk to you!
Welcome to the first edition of our internet catalogue.
Harborcrest Gardens has been under the management of J.C. Yates for the past 30 years and is now owned and operated by sisters, Virginia and Sylvia.
To Harborcrest Garden's previous and new customers, we will endeavor to continue to meet the previous high standards of quality and service!
We offer the past 30 years of Mr. Yate's growing, collecting and hybridizing and will continue to ship choice plants to our customers. We look forward to a great "Growing" year and to providing new varieties to our valuable customers!
To all our new and old customers, we
say Welcome and Thank You!
We ship only vigorous plants, well established in 2 1/2 inch pots, many of them already in bud. All stock has been carefully grown and a regular program has been carried out to ensure disease free stock. Although it rarely happens, it is possible for us to be out of an odd plant when your order is being filled. In that case we will substitute a similar plant of equal or greater value, but if you can list a few plants from which we can choose a suitable substitute, it would help us to be sure we do not send a duplicate of something you already have.return to the top
Shipping Season will vary depending on your location and the type of plants ordered. All Orders will be acknowledged with full information on when you can expect your plants. Please note we are limited by weather. We cannot ship tender plants by mail in the middle of winter. However, we urge you to order early so that you may be among the first to receive their plants in your area and also so we can reserve them in case of any shortage. We now ship Canada Post's "Express Post". They guarantee 2 to 5 days delivery. Please note that we date stamp each carton on the Mailing Label in case there is any doubt about how long a delivery has taken. If the Post Office is unable to make a delivery, they will notify you. Remember it is up to you to pick up the Parcel promptly, as the Post Office stops counting delivery time when you are notified. Provide us with your e-mail address and we will e-mail you when the order has been shipped. Please allow 4-6 WEEKS for delivery.
Unfortunately at this time we can only ship within CANADA.

We offer mail order only, however, our Greenhouse will be open to Visitors by appointment or on weekends during the shipping season of April through October. Dates will be posted on the internet when the schedule is set.To request a copy of our print catalogue please send $2 with your name and address. The $2 is refundable with your first order! We are offering a FREE catalogue to our online customers! Just e-mail your request.
The varieties are described as we found them to perform. We cannot guarantee exactly the same results under different growing conditions. We do, however, guarantee them to have been grown from true to name Hybridizers' stock. If any plants do not arrive in good condition they will be replaced free of charge with your next order, or, if you wish, on payment of the Shipping fee for replacement. Since we have no control over their culture, we regret that we can make no guarantees after they are in your hands. If you delayed in picking up your order, we will not be responsible if the plants are damaged. We require proof (in the way of pictures, or plant returns) of problems which may have occurred. We have no control over when you pick up your shipment so if there is a chance you will be out of town when the order is to be shipped, please advise us by e-mail so we can delay shipment. We can notify you by e-mail if you wish as to when your order will be shipped.

Plants $2.95 unless otherwise quoted. These plants have been carefully selected from among the hundreds of new introductions in the past few years. Varieties new to this year's catalogue are marked. They will provide larger and more interesting colour combinations than found in any mass-produced plants usually found on the market. Included are the new Yellows, the latest break-through in African Violets - but a word of caution - they are not solid Yellow but various other colours, mostly White, with a center splash of pure Yellow or Yellow stripes and shadings. The Yellow colour will be plainly seen but the amount will vary depending on growing conditions.

We offer a wide range of indoor plants, both new varieties and some of the old reliables that everyone is seeking these days. Except where noted, culture of these plants is much the same. Normal House Temperatures are fine, as much light as possible without full Sun (except in winter) and as high a humidity as can be maintained is about all they need. Use a little fertilizer every week and prune to keep in shape. DO NOT OVERWATER. Never water a plant if the top of its soil is still damp.![]()
